Crystal embodies people helping people to help themselves. Beyond her front-line knowledge of how a credit union works, she understands the challenges and opportunities of the people that credit unions and their community partners serve. She came to the financial industry through BankWork$, a training program that creates economic opportunity and builds lasting careers for young adults. A rising star in the program, Crystal initially went to work at a community bank, but turned to not-for-profit credit unions where she felt she could make a real difference.
Crystal is a certified teacher who owns her own small business teaching families baby sign language. She can speak to babies without uttering a whisper and understands the unique situations faced by families with disabilities. As early as her late teens Crystal stepped into a leadership role running a local non-profit and continues to apply these hard-earned skills today (including how to run a board meeting with Robert’s Rules of Order!).
Crystal’s daily agenda includes making sure people are where they are supposed to be, keeping projects on track, and maintaining a constant stream of contacts, calendars and contracts. Outside CU Strategic Planning Crystal’s greatest joy is her family. Her young children and husband are the loves of her life. She actively volunteers at her children’s school and afterschool activities. When she gets a moment to unwind, she enjoys Netflix and any show featuring the always calm, Gordon Ramsey.
She was born and raised Tacoma, Washington and now resides in neighboring University Place.
